Bemin Secondary College’s values are Respect, Excellence, Innovation and Community. These values provide a foundation for students to individually create a strong authentic community identity at an inclusive school. At Bemin Secondary College all students have a voice in developing the skills they need to transition to successful pathways as they enter young adult life.

Bemin Secondary College recognises that, in the pursuit of excellence, all students are individuals entitled to equal opportunity, a positive learning environment and on-going support to enable them to realise their fullest potential – intellectual, personal, physical, creative, social and vocational. 


Bemin Secondary College acknowledges that the behaviour of staff, parents, carers and students has an impact on our school community and culture. We acknowledge a shared responsibility to create a positive learning environment for the children and young people at our school. Such an environment can be developed when based on the value of mutual respect, shared responsibility and cooperation between staff, students and parents.

At Bemin Secondary College, we acknowledge that

  • the personalised learning needs of all young people will be catered for via a highly differentiated curriculum providing support, challenge and enrichment.

  • all staff will acknowledge that student individual cultures and personal identities are a source of strength.

  • all staff will engage in the use of evolving technologies, collaborative and problem-based learning which involves students working on real-world problems.

  • leaders and teachers will collaborate to plan and teach a comprehensive curriculum which acknowledges the importance of student voice and agency, cultural understanding and personal identity.

  • curriculum programs will be supported by contemporary resources and the latest research on high impact teaching and learning strategies as well as the high impact engagement strategies.

  • all leaders and teachers are active members of Professional Learning Communities. In these teams, all teachers are highly committed to the continuous improvement of their own teaching and are focused on the development of knowledge and skills required to improve student learning.

  • all staff value the collection and use of data for the purpose of monitoring continuous school improvement.
