2027 Year 9 Subject Handbook
We're excited to announce that the 2027 Year 9 Electives Subject Handbook is now available, providing students and families with everything they need to begin exploring the exciting range of elective opportunities available in Year 9.
Year 9 is an important stage of learning, giving students greater choice and independence while encouraging them to discover new interests, develop their strengths and broaden their experiences. Electives provide an opportunity for students to step beyond the core curriculum and engage in subjects that inspire, challenge and motivate them.

Advice to help students make thoughtful and informed subject selections.
Year 9 electives are an opportunity for students to try something new, build on their interests and discover areas they may want to pursue further. Students are encouraged to consider subjects that excite them, challenge them and allow them to develop new skills and experiences.
While students do not need to have their future career or senior secondary pathway worked out yet, their Year 9 electives can help them discover what they enjoy and begin to identify areas they may wish to explore further in Year 10 and beyond.
Students and families are encouraged to read the handbook together and discuss subject choices with classroom teachers, Learning Specialists, Careers staff and members of the school leadership team. These conversations can help students select a balanced program that reflects their interests, strengths and learning goals.
Throughout the subject selection period, students will participate in information sessions and have opportunities to ask questions before submitting their preferences for 2027.
We look forward to supporting every student as they explore new possibilities, discover their interests and take greater ownership of their learning journey in Year 9.
